Das japanische Unternehmen hat sich bei den 120-Millimeter-Axiallüftern Grand Flex 120 und Grand Flex 120 PWM, die die Nachfolge der erfolgreichen S-FLEX-Serie antreten, eine Menge einfallen lassen, um die Leistung zu steigern und den Geräuschpegel zu senken.

These new axial fans surprise with the aggressive design and are set to be the successor of the incredibly successful S-FLEX series, taking it to the next level in terms of design and performance.
Die “Sealed Precision FDB” getaufte Technik wurde für die neue Lüfter-Serie komplett neu entwickelt und bildet die Grundlage für die Grand-Flex-Modelle. So besitzen beide Lüfter ein hochwertiges „Fluid Dynamic Lager“. Im Gegensatz zu Lüftern mit herkömmlichen Gleitlagern kommt bei dieser Bauweise Schmieröl zum Einsatz, welches sich zwischen Lüfternabe und Lager befindet. Dadurch wird die Reibung und der damit zusammenhängende Verschleiß minimiert, was den Lüfter deutlich langlebiger macht; die MTTF (Mean Time To Failure) liegt bei 120.000 Stunden (bei 25 Grad Celsius). Ein weiterer Vorteil ist das hochwertige Schmieröl, welches Temperaturen von bis zu 250 Grad Celsius standhalten kann, was die Grand-Flex-Serie auch für die Industrie interessant macht. Damit die hochwertigen Lüfter auch problemlos in Big-Tower-Gehäusen verbaut werden können, spendiert ihnen Scythe ein 500 mm langes Kabel, das durch seine Ummantelung extrem robust ist und sich somit besser verlegen lässt.
Die gesteigerte Qualität der beiden 120-Millimeter-Lüfter macht sich auch bei den Rotorblättern bemerkbar, denn diese fallen noch stabiler aus. Bedingt durch ihr neues Design, bei dem sie am inneren Ende nun leicht angewinkelt sind, wird der Luftstrom gezielt auf die gewünschte Kühlfläche geleitet. Dies wirkt sich sehr positiv auf die Kühlleistung bei CPU-Kühlern aus! Um dabei das Betriebsgeräusch so niedrig wie möglich zu halten, stattet Scythe die Lüfter zusätzlich mit Vibrationsdämpfern aus, die entstehende Vibrationen absorbieren und dafür sorgen, dass keine lästigen Vibrationen an das PC-Gehäuse geleitet werden. Ebenfalls zum Lieferumgang gehören vier Befestigungsschrauben sowie der klassische 3-Pin auf 4-Pin-Molex-Adapter.
Die Lüfter der Grand-Flex 120-Serie sind in insgesamt fünf verschiedenen Modellvarianten erhältlich. Neben einem bis zu 2.400 U/min schnellen PWM-Modell gehören auch vier Lüfter ohne PWM-Technologie zur Produktfamilie. Diese Lüfter drehen mit konstanten Drehzahlen von 800 U/min, 1.200 U/min, 1.600 U/min sowie 2.000 U/min.

Die neue Lüfter-Serie ist ab sofort im Fachhandel erhältlich. Die Scythe Grand Flex 120-mm-Modelle ohne PWM-Unterstützung werden mit einer unverbindlichen Preisempfehlung von 10,95 EUR (inkl. 19 % MwSt.) freigegeben. Der Preis für das PWM-Modell (SM1225GF12SH-P) beträgt 14,95 EUR (inkl.19 % MwSt.).

„Sealed Precision FDB“ was newly developed from scratch as the core for its Grand Flex 120 mm series. This bearing is based on the „Fluid Dynamic Bearing“ technology that has served Scythe well for several popular high-end series in the past and is now being used as a very solid and reliable foundation for the new design. Scythe’s Fluid Dynamic Bearing utilizes lubricantoil between the shaft and the bearing, resulting in excellent lubrication and silent operation. The used high-grade lubricant oil can withstand high temperatures of up to 250 degree Celsius, and are additionally of special interest for industrial use. Grand Flex 120 case fans are made for long time silent operation and are rated with MTTF (Mean Time To Failure) of 120.000 hours (at 25 degree Celsius).
Another highlight is the completely new design of the 9 blades of the Grand Flex 120 and Grand Flex 120 PWM models. Each fan blade is made especially robust and is equipped with an indentation close to the center-hub. Hence allows much more focused and more concentrated airflow towards the cooling area, resulting in better performance when used with cooler heatsinks. In order to reduce the vibration transferred to PC chassis, a set of vibration dampers is supplied with each Grand Flex 120 case fan. In addition, all Grand Flex 120 case fans come with a 500 mm long cable, which is sleeved – allowing it to be conveniently used even in big tower chassis.
To match every users taste, Scythe Grand Flex 120 axial fans are available in five different variations. For users seeking constant airflow at fixed speed, total of four models are available, including 800 rpm, 1.200 rpm, 1.600 rpm and 2.000 rpm. Users seeking a fan with PWM support, can rely on the Grand Flex 120 PWM model, which offers a very wide fan speed range from 600 up to 2.400 rpm.
