Die kreativen Ingenieure haben in der neuesten Generation das komplette Kühlkörperdesign sowie die Lamellenstruktur überarbeitet und dem Kühlkörper ein Hybrid-Heatpipesystem spendiert. Dieses Hybrid-System besteht aus zwei 6 mm und drei 8 mm starken qualitativ sehr hochwertigen Kupfer-Heatpipes. Ein wichtiger Aspekt bei der Überarbeitung war zudem die Kompatibilität zu High-End-Speichermodulen, welche zu den großen Vorteilen des Kabuto 3 zählt.

Scythe engineers have revamped the heatsink design as well as the heatsink structure of the Kabuto 3 and incorporated a hybrid heatpipe system. This hybrid system consists of two 6 mm and three 8 mm high-quality copper heatpipes. Compatibility to high-end memory modules has been an important aspect when designing the Kabuto 3, which is a big advantage compared to the predecessor.
Der Scythe Kabuto 3 CPU-Kühler wurde speziell auf den Scythe Glide Stream 120 mm Lüfter abgestimmt. Dieser Axiallüfter mit der Modellnummer SY1225HB12M-CIP ist prädestiniert für einen hervorragenden Volumenstrom trotz des am Kühlkörper auftretenden Staudrucks. Dies ist möglich durch die verkleinerte Rotornabe sowie einem komplett überarbeiteten Rotorblattdesign. Somit konnte der Luftwiederstand der Blätter verringert und das Betriebsgeräusch reduziert werden. Der PWM fähige 120 mm Lüfter arbeitet in einem Rotordrehzahlbereich von 300 bis 1.400 U/min. Dabei kommt es zu einem Volumenstrom von 21,96 bis 113,34 m³/h bei einem Schalldruckpegel von 4 bis maximal 28,0 dB(A). Durch das grundlegende Design bietet der Kabuto 3 zusätzlichen Luftstrom für umliegende Mainboard-Komponenten wie Chipsatz, Arbeitsspeicher, Spannungswandler und alle weiteren Bauteile, die rings um den CPU-Sockel angeordnet sind.
Das angesprochene Hybrid-System sorgt zudem für eine hervorragende Performance des Kabuto 3. Möglich wird diese Leistung durch drei 8 mm dicke Kupferheatpipes, die im Zentrum montiert sind und zwei weiteren 6 mm dicken Heatpipes, die an den Außenseiten Platz finden. Alle fünf Heatpipes sind äußerst sauber mit der hochpräzise gefertigten Kupferbodenplatte verbunden. Das Ergebnis sind sehr gute Wärmeübergänge und letztlich eine gesteigerte Gesamtperformance. Sämtliche Kupferheatpipes sowie die Bodenplatte sind vor Korrosion durch eine Nickelbeschichtung geschützt.
Dank des überarbeiteten Designs und der weiterentwickelten Anordnung der Heatpipes, ist es möglich den Kabuto 3 auch in sehr kompakte PC-Gehäuse zu installieren. Der große Abstand zwischen Motherboard und Kühlkörper vermeidet Beeinträchtigungen und sorgt für eine überragende Kompatibilität zu großen Speichermodulen und VRM-Kühlern. Scythe hat den Kabuto 3 mit einem Montagesystem ausgestattet, welches eine schnelle und einfache Installation auf verschiedenen Sockeln ermöglicht. Die List der kompatiblen CPU-Sockel ist lang und beinhaltet Intels® Sockel LGA775, LGA1150, LGA1151, LGA1155, LGA1156, LGA1366 ebenso wie AMDs® Sockel AM2, AM2+, AM3, AM3+, FM1, FM2 und FM2+.

Scythe Kabuto 3 CPU Cooler has been fitted with a matching Scythe Glide Stream 120 Millimeter fan with the model number SY1225HB12M-CIP. The Glide Stream fan series is equipped with a redesigned small center hub as well as fan blades. Hence allows the reduction of air resistance and therefore lower operating noise. The PWM-enabled 120 mm fan operates in the fan speed range from 300 to 1.400 rpm, offering sufficient airflow from 21,96 to 113,34 m³/h (12,93 ~ 79,0 CFM) at noise levels from 4 to maximum 28,0 dB(A).
Kabuto 3 offers additional airflow to cool the surrounding components such as Chipset, memory, VRMs and other components located around the CPU Socket. Outstanding performance is assured thanks to the hybrid system: Kabuto 3 features three 8-mm high-quality copper heatpipes on the center and two additional with 6-mm diameter on the outside. All five heatpipes are connected with the carefully manufactured copper baseplate to exactly fit the heatpipes, which results in improved heat transfer and an overall better performance. The copper heatpipes and the copper baseplate are nickel-plated in order to avoid corrosion.
Kabuto 3 can be mounted even in compact PC cases thanks to the revamped design, the improved arrangement and shape of the heatpipes. The space between motherboard and heatsink avoids interference and provides excellent compatibility to large memory modules or VRM coolers. Scythe equipped the Kabuto 3 with a mounting system, which allows quick, easy and secure mounting procedure on various sockets. The list of compatible CPU Sockets features the Intel® Sockets LGA775, LGA1150, LGA1151, LGA1155, LGA1156, LGA1366 as well as the AMD® Sockets AM2, AM2+, AM3, AM3+, FM1, FM2 and FM2+.
