Der CPU-Kühler fällt durch seine unverkennbare X-Struktur auf, dank der er nicht nur den Prozessor ausgezeichnet kühlt, sondern auch die umliegenden Komponenten auf dem Mainboard gleich mit dazu.

New Scythe Grand Kama Cross 3 is based on the same extraordinary X-Structure concept as the predecessor, allowing especially efficient cooling of both the CPU and the surrounding components such as VGA cards, VRMs or RAM.
Scythe hat sich mit Grand Kama Cross 3 vorgenommen, die Leistung signifikant zu steigern. Anstatt der herkömmlichen vier 6-Millimeter-Kupferheatpipes, setzt Scythe bei den mittleren beiden auf Kupferheatpipes mit 8-Millimeter Durchmesser. Des Weiteren wurde der Fertigungsprozess verfeinert, um den Kontakt zwischen der Bodenplatte und den Heatpipes zu verbessern. Im Gegensatz zum Vorgänger werden die vier Kupfer-Heatpipes und die Kupferbodenplatte des Grand Kama Cross 3 komplett vernickelt. Das Entwicklungsteam von Scythe hat auch die beiden Aluminium-Lamellenpakete überarbeitet und die Kühllamellen mit einem speziellen Sägezahnprofil ausgestattet. Dadurch werden in diesem Bereich Verwirbelungen minimiert, woraus ein leiseres Betriebsgeräusch bei hohen Lüfterdrehzahlen resultiert. Zusätzlich verringert sich der Strömungswiderstand, wodurch die Kühlleistung des Grand Kama Cross 3 nochmals gesteigert wird.
Für die Belüftung sorgt ein vormontierter 140-Millimeter-Lüfter aus der GlideStream-Serie. Dieser erreicht, bedingt durch seine Größe, ein Fördervolumen von 50,79 bis 165,08 Kubikmeter pro Stunde, bei einer Lautstärke von lediglich 12,5 bis 30,7 dBA. Der Drehzahlbereich des 140-Millimeter-PWM-Modelles variiert zwischen 400 und 1.300 Umdrehungen pro Minute, sodass er stets leise zu Werke geht. Zusätzlich dazu reduzieren die mit Rillen versehenen Rotorblätter den Luftwiderstand, wodurch sich das Betriebsgeräusch des Lüfters noch weiter verringert. Die neue Version des Grand Kama Cross misst 171 x 140 x 147 mm (B x T x H) und wiegt samt vormontiertem Lüfter 790 Gramm. Durch sein ausgefallenes X-Design ist der Grand Kama Cross 3 zudem mit vielen Mainboards und PC-Gehäusen kompatibel. Um Anwendern die Montage zu erleichtern und den Kühler fest mit dem Prozessor zu verbinden, hat Scythe den Befestigungsmechanismus weiter verbessert. Der Grand Kama Cross 3 wird weiterhin mittels Schrauben und Backplate mit dem Mainboard verbunden. Zu den kompatiblen Sockeln zählen die aktuellen AMD-Sockel AM2(+), AM3(+), FM1und FM2(+) sowie Intel-Sockel LGA775, 1150, 1151, 1155, 1156, 1366 und LGA2011(V3).
Wie auch bei den anderen CPU-Kühlern von Scythe, fällt das Zubehör sehr umfangreich aus. Im Lieferumfang befindet sich eine mehrsprachige Einbauanleitung, alle wichtigen Befestigungsklemmen, Schrauben, ein Schraubenschlüssel und ein Schraubendreher sowie ein kleines Paket hochwertiger Wärmeleitpaste.
Der Scythe Grand Kama Cross 3 CPU-Kühler (Modell-Nr. SCGKC-3000) ist ab sofort im europäischen Fachhandel erhältlich. Die unverbindliche Preisempfehlung des Herstellers beträgt 43,95 EUR (inkl. 19% MwSt.).

Scythe engineers redesigned the Grand Kama Cross 3 with the goal to significantly improve the overall performance. Instead of using regular 6-millimeter copper-heatpipes, Scythe has exchanged the two copper-heatpipes in the center against two with 8-millimeter diameter. Fine-tuning the manufacturing process allowed to further increase the efficiency of the heat transfer between the copper baseplate and the copper-heatpipes. Another difference to the predecessor is that both the copper baseplate and the four copper-heatpipes have been completely nickel-plated for the Grand Kama Cross 3. The engineers have re-designed the two aluminum-fins blocks and fitted the fins with a special saw tooth tread design. The new design has lowered both the operating noise at higher fan speed ranges and the air resistance, resulting in improved cooling performance.
Grand Kama Cross 3 comes with a pre-installed 140 mm axial-fan from the GlideStream series. Thanks to its larger diameter and PWM-support, sufficient airflow between 29,90 and 97,18 CFM at noise levels from 12,5 to 30,7 dBA is assured. Fan speed can be adjusted individually according to the CPU temperature by the motherboard stepless in the range from 400 to 1.300 RPM. The special grooved blade design of the GlideStream 140 case fan benefits the top flow design of Grand Kama Cross 3 CPU cooler.
Even more easy and secure mounting is achieved thanks to the re-worked backplate-based mounting system. Further advantage is the support for latest Intel sockets, such as LGA1151, and LGA1150, LGA1155 as well as LGA 775, 1156, 1366, and LGA2011(v3). The list of compatible AMD sockets includes AM2(+), AM3(+), FM1and FM2(+). All the required mounting clips and screws are supplied with the Scythe Grand Kama Cross 3, as well as a wrench, screw driver, multi-lingual manual and quality thermal grease.
